Client Testimonials
Don’t take our word for it – here’s what our clients say:
My ABC consultant was the best college app counselor one could have! She was patient and was always there for me to talk through anything I felt confused or frustrated about. She provided lots of useful suggestions. Most importantly, she knew what the colleges wanted to know about me. College essay writing was not painful for me at all because I had a teacher and friend every step of the way. I enjoyed the opportunity of thinking about who I am as a person, finding my strengths, and expressing it all through my application essays. Thank you for getting me across the finish line!

The application process was arduous and stressful. My consultant in many ways became my life line. He was always quick to respond to my questions and made a distinct effort to ensure that I presented my stories in the best way while maintaining my original thoughts. I felt very comfortable with his level of expertise. It was obvious he was very familiar with the college application process and understood what leading universities were looking for. I can confidently say that he had a hand in getting me to where I am today. All I can say is thank you!

In all honesty, I tend to procrastinate. My senior year was really overwhelming because I had to do all my application essays, take the SAT and TOEFL, and keep up with all my AP courses. Fortunately, I had a consultant who created a well-organized schedule and who kept pushing me to stick to it. Without this push, I most likely would have submitted applications to fewer universities simply because of procrastination. I also appreciated having an expert help me to articulate myself more clearly.

I thought I could do all my application essays on my own. Then I received tough feedback from my English teacher at school. I did not really understand his feedback. A classmate recommend I contact Kristin at America Bound Consulting. She made me feel so calm. She was always super fast to respond to my questions and even took the time to talk to me about things I was stressed about at school. She was a teacher and now is my friend.

When I began my essays, it was really unclear what the universities wanted me to write about. When they ask, “Why BU?” What are you supposed to say?! Tim spent 40 minutes just explaining how to approach these types of questions. After talking with him, I understood how to work through university websites more effectively and what the difference between majors, minors, and concentrations are. The college application process is a time in life when you want an advisor/consultant to help you!

I am from Michigan, and I’ve been teaching here in Taiwan for two years. Although I’ve been to China and Japan, I decided to stay in Taipei because life as a foreigner here is just less complicated. Teaching career aside, it’s a lot more secure and liveable long-term. The health care here is unbelievably amazing. There are crystal-clear waters and beaches down in Kenting, and the country has massive cities like Taipei. I think that Taiwan deserves a lot more recognition internationally. There is also more to love about Taiwan than just its beautiful land, people, and food!

I’ve lived in different Asian countries, and I can say Taiwan is the most comfortable, peaceful, and livable country. When I started researching about Taiwan, there were a lot of details that I saw that aligned with my values. People talked about the friendliness of the Taiwanese people, how clean the country is, and how great its healthcare is. When I arrived, I discovered all of these descriptions about Taiwan are true! I do not for a second regret my decision of moving to Taiwan.

I’m teaching in a public elementary school in Taiwan. I love my work-life balance and work environment. The quality of life is also great because the salary compared to the cost of living allows me to live very comfortably here and still have extra funds at the end of the month. The teaching job was difficult at first, but it has gotten much easier since the school uses basically the same syllabi each year. Therefore, I can reuse my lesson plans and materials. I obviously tweak things to stay current and to improve, but I am not starting from scratch! The students are the best part of the job. They are very funny, curious, and friendly to foreign teachers. I love them dearly.

I have been blown away by the private high school I teach at. The administration is incredibly focused on making sure teachers feel supported. Every time, I have suggested more unorthodox lesson plans, they have jumped on board and ensured I had all the necessary materials . I have also enjoyed that the teachers are welcome to join excursions if they wish to. Having taught at a high school in the US, I honestly foresee myself teaching in Taiwan long-term.

My school has invested in me as a teacher. It has paid for several certifications and given me break periods to work on them. I never had this at my school back home. It even arranged my apartment and covers my living expenses (a small amount is deducted from my salary, but it is SMALL). Furthermore, I find the overall environment of the school inviting. I have become quite close to both the other foreign teachers as well as the Taiwanese teachers.

At first, I was a bit overwhelmed by the move. There was a lot to figure out, but the America Bound Consulting team was very supportive. Every time I spoke with Emily, Barbara, or Kristin, it felt like I was talking to a friend. They answered all my questions before and after arrival. I particularly enjoy that they organize social meet ups for all the teachers. It has helped me connect with new arrivals and teaching veterans alike. I most definitely recommend teaching in Taiwan and making the move with ABC!
