TERM PAPER COURSES

Join us from the comfort of your home for one of our 10-week courses to learn how to research, plan, write, and cite university-level writing assignments. Term papers can be quite overwhelming if a student has no experience with this level of research. Each week, students will be expected to complete a university-level assignment at home. Before the next class, the instructor will give thorough feedback to each individual student privately through Google Docs.

Students receive a curated learning experience that will teach them how to craft their academic voice. The content for our courses reflects the recent shift in the current state of university pedagogy with an emphasis on critical thinking and accountability. Students learn how to write undergraduate essays on a structural level – by experimenting with different argument styles – and rhetorically in the construction of a strong thesis. Students will also learn how to navigate research tools and incorporate proper citations and bibliographical material, skills that are aimed towards academic integrity. They will also become proficient in critical reading and listening by writing responses to scholarly articles and university-level lectures. Students are expected to engage in academic discussions and peer review. At the end of ten weeks, they deliver a presentation on a topic of their choice, followed by a polished paper as a product of what they have workshopped in those presentations. The types of skills that students develop from our courses will aid them in both survey-level and seminar courses in their undergraduate careers and beyond.
